Step-by-step instructions
- Step 1
Go to ancestry.com and sign in.
- Step 2
Click your profile icon → Account Settings.
- Step 3
Click "Subscription".
- Step 4
Click "Cancel Subscription".
- Step 5
Follow the prompts.
- Step 6
Confirm cancellation.
💡 Your family tree data is preserved even after cancellation. You lose access to Ancestry records but keep your tree.
Common issues
“Will my family tree be deleted if I cancel?”
No. Your family tree, photos, and uploaded documents are saved in your account. You can still view your tree on the free plan but lose access to Ancestry's historical record database.
“I have an annual plan — can I get a partial refund?”
Ancestry generally does not offer partial refunds for annual plans. Contact support at support.ancestry.com to check if an exception applies to your situation.
